Our targeted outreach service is a powerful way of reaching specific sectors of the community who do not necessarily interact with voluntary and community organisations and networks.
Targeted outreach can be adapted to reach people within a particular region, or work more intensively to reach a particular group. It is effective either when used in addition to the embedded outreach approach, or as a stand-alone initiative.
How does it work?
First, we will work with you to identify your message, the target groups you want to reach, and the outcomes you want to achieve. For example, you might want to reduce health inequalities in a particular area by encouraging people to take up a free screening service.
Because targeted outreach aims to reach people who do not have contact with voluntary and community organisations (such as their local lunch club or Age Concern) we focus our attention on venues within the community that people in your target group visit as part of their everyday lives. This might include local government departments, GPs, hospitals, faith organisations, and even local shops and businesses – such as post offices, hairdressers, and cafes.
We train, equip and deploy local, experienced volunteers to work with these venues and organisations to understand the message and to ensure it is effectively communicated to the target groups. Our bespoke reporting systems ensure detailed feedback on the reach and impact of the programme, enabling you to demonstrate the extent and success of the programmes and value for money.
Why is it effective?
Our model is highly effective at reaching target groups. Trusted volunteers know the places in the community that your target groups visit, and will often be more successful than an unknown organisation in spreading the message and getting leaflets and flyers on display.
This approach is highly effective at communicating your message to the right people in the right organisations in an appropriate, sensitive and sustainable manner. Just by having a simple conversation with someone, a volunteer can make a real difference to a person’s attitude towards your subject and create lasting behavioural change. Unlike mail-shots, leafleting or street teams, this approach is targeted and sustainable and delivers a much greater first-time impact.
Measurable results
As with our embedded outreach service, we are able to collect real-time information from our local partners and provide reports that measure our results against targets and that illustrate the positive impact we have achieved.
