Debra has worked in event management and project management within the third sector since 2005. She has always felt it is important to use her co-ordination and communication skills to make a positive difference, and started her career as events administrator at the Association of British Credit Unions. She worked on a high profile financial project to develop and implement a current account that credit unions can provide to their members, acting on the government's financial inclusion agenda. In 2008, Debra qualified in PRINCE2 at practitioner level.
Debra manages a number of intensive outreach projects at DOL, working through the voluntary and community sector to identify trusted individuals within the community to provide information and advice to a small percentage of people who face multiple and significant barriers and are therefore very difficult to reach. When she is not at work, Debra enjoys sports activities including netball and hockey, which she plays on a regular basis - taking up most of her weekends in the winter!
